Taking Advantage of Women’s Health Services

We talk about men’s health and sexual well-being by rote, with commercials for erectile dysfunction and low libido a common daily occurrence. However, the same does not seem to be true for women’s health. We don’t seem to want to talk about what is actually a healthy aspect of being human.  Wanting to have a healthy and happy life as a woman is something every woman should feel!   At Enhanced Wellness Living in Ridgeland, MS, we understand the toll hormonal changes can take on a woman’s life, which is why we are proud to offer various women’s health services at our clinic.

Improving the quality of your life is a path we are excited to help you walk. Learn everything you need to know about women’s health before you call our office to schedule your initial appointment.

Female health and sexual health are important aspects of having optimal health.  Unfortunately, hormonal changes and aging have an impact on our overall health, mental health, sexual health, brain health, and more.  A combination of factors that are inescapable effects of living life.

Hormones

For women, hormonal changes come at many different times in life. In fact, women still menstruating experience dramatic hormonal fluctuations at least twelve times a year. But the two most drastic hormonal changes occur post-pregnancy and post-menopause.

Post-pregnancy, many women experience a rapid reversal of hormone production that is largely responsible for both post-partum depression and the production of breastmilk. Hormonal fluctuations combined with the stress of having a newborn can mean that post-pregnancy sex is something that simply does not exist. Additionally, the nerves in the vagina can be damaged by natural birth, which means that arousal and reaching orgasm is much more difficult than before.

Post-menopause hormonal changes are similar in that the slowed production of estrogen and other hormones means that women begin to suffer from a lack of libido. Decreased libido and an inability to orgasm are often root causes of a lack of intimacy in a relationship.

Aging

Aside from menopause, aging affects the physiology of a woman’s body. Skin becomes dryer, hair becomes thinner, and vaginal tissue becomes less sensitive. The skin and muscles of the vagina often become less responsive after menopause, which can mean difficulty in maintaining arousal and enjoying sexual stimulation. Many women try to solve this problem, but a true solution is best found in lifestyle changes, nutrition and dietary shifts, and, sometimes, medical treatments.

The Benefits of Women’s Health Services

In addition to enhancing sexual pleasure, there are numerous benefits of women’s health services that you may want to consider. For example, some of the treatments are natural in nature, meaning there are no foreign substances or chemicals that are used. Other benefits of women’s health services include:

  • Decreased urinary incontinence
  • Increased overall health
  • Increased sexual desire and lubrication
  • Greater arousal from stimulation
  • Better sense of well-being
  • Improved mental health
  • Better Body Composition
  • Reduced inflammation, joint, and muscle pain
  • Much more!

At your consultation appointment, Kelly will be glad to discuss all the benefits of women’s health services in improving the quality of your life and maintaining optimal health can improve your overall well-being.

The Treatment Process

You already know that you stand to benefit from women’s health services. But many patients are comforted to know what to expect from the entire process, which is why we have put together this basic outline. We will walk you through everything, from your initial appointment to when you can expect to see results and every step along the way.

Initial Consultation

Your first appointment is where we will gather the most information from you. We will discuss the reasons you are seeking treatment, such as having difficulty reaching orgasm or experiencing a lower libido than normal. We may ask questions regarding your last cycle, both for post-pregnant and post-menopausal patients, which will help us identify the most probable underlying cause for your concerns.

We will ask for your general medical history, your current medical issues, any medications you are taking, and any allergies to medicines you may have. We will also ask about your lifestyle habits, including exercise, any supplements or vitamins you may be taking, and your alcohol and tobacco use. All of this information will ensure that you have the safest and most comprehensive treatment possible.

During this appointment, we will discuss all treatment options available to you. If you set up your appointment with a specific treatment or procedure in mind, it may be possible that there is a treatment that is better suited to your exact needs. Our staff will help you decide which treatment option is best for you and your lifestyle.

You will be required to undergo testing as needed in order to ensure we get an accurate diagnosis. For example, if you visit us for sleeping difficulties, a few simple tests can help our team determine the cause.

Pre-Treatment Guidelines

There are a few guidelines that must be followed when it comes to women’s health services. For example, depending on the treatment and other factors, we may advise you to not have sex in the days leading up to your treatment. We may also advise that you temporarily stop taking certain over-the-counter or prescription medications. On the day of your appointment, you may be asked to wear loose and comfortable clothing, such as a long skirt. We may give you additional instructions to follow during your consultation.

The Treatment

It’s important to keep in mind that this is a brief overview of women’s health services and the benefits that you stand to gain from them. The specific treatment that is right for you will depend on a number of factors and will ultimately be determined during your initial consultation. Generally speaking, women’s health treatments are performed in the comfort of our office without the need for much, if any, downtime. Once you are situated in the treatment room, we will move forward with the actual treatment, which we will make sure to customize based on your wants and needs.  Treatments are designed to be quick and easy, even for women with busy schedules and lifestyles. From start to finish, the actual treatment may take just minutes. It all depends on the unique case.

Post-Treatment Guidelines

After your treatment, we will provide you with a list of post-treatment guidelines to follow as needed. The post-treatment guidelines may include diet suggestions/restrictions, exercises and other lifestyles changes to implement for optimal women’s health. We may provide you with additional guidelines to follow depending on the treatment regimen.

Recovery

Patients generally do not experience any discomfort follow women’s health treatments, so there is usually no need to prescribe pain medication. Generally speaking, you may return to your normal daily activities immediately following your treatment, although we do advise that you follow all aftercare instructions that have been given to you. Some patients experience immediate benefits as a result of their office visit, while others notice gradual changes that make the coming weeks, months and years more enjoyable.

When taking advantage of women’s health services, the expected results can include a range of benefits such as less frequent urinary incontinence, an increased libido, and an easier time reaching orgasm. Based on how well you are responding to the treatment after a set amount of time, it is possible that you will need another treatment to achieve or maintain the desired results. It’s important to keep in mind that results do vary based on factors such as age, lifestyle, family history and more.

Women’s health services can work for practically any woman. However, if you are not responding to a certain treatment, we may recommend other options so that you can enjoy the desired results.

How Often Should I Seek Treatment?

It all depends on the situation, as women’s health is not one-size-fits-all. To maintain the results of the treatment, it is recommended that you have follow-up appointments as needed. Your age and hormonal balance will determine how frequent your sessions may need to be. Some women may require bi-annual treatments to maintain the desired results, and some need to come in more or less often. Our staff will help you determine how well you are responding to the treatment and how often your treatment sessions should be for optimal health and well-being.

Can Women’s Health Services Help Me?

Ideal candidates for this treatment include any woman who would like to enhance her overall health/well-being and sexual pleasure. Women’s health services are for women who understand that a happy life includes a healthy life and that sexual health and well-being is not something that is only reserved for men.

Our thorough assessment at your initial appointment will help determine if our services can help you.
