Brain Fog

Brain fog is a symptom that can be an indicator for various medical conditions. It  is often characterized by forgetfulness, lack of mental clarity, reduced concentration, and/or poor focus.  If you suspect you are experiencing this illness, Enhanced Wellness can successfully identify the cause and create a personalized treatment plan for ensuring your optimal health.

The effects of brain fog can range from mild to severe depending on the specific circumstances surrounding an individual. Doctors are typically able to treat it by finding and addressing the root cause. Some factors that can contribute to  brain fog include:

  • Stress
  • Lack of Sleep
  • Hormonal changes
  • Diet
  • Medications
  • Medical Conditions

The Diagnosis Process

Brain fog can be diagnosed by using one or several methods if at all necessary.  Standard medical procedures used to diagnose may include:

Physical Examination

In some cases, a physical examination combined with a review of your diet, mental health, physicality, and current medication or supplement intake may help to pinpoint the cause of the symptoms.

Blood Tests

If a physical examination does not reveal any information as to the cause of the illness, a blood test may need to be run. Blood tests can alert your doctor of nutrient deficiencies; inadequate liver, kidney, or thyroid function; inflammatory diseases; and/or irregular glucose levels.  Any of these issues could be a contributing cause for developing symptoms.

Imaging Tests

If neither of the aforementioned methods supply your doctor with information as to the reason for the illness, more serious measures will need to be taken.  A magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scan, X-ray, or computed tomography (CT) scan will be conducted in order to expose what is happening inside your body.

The Treatment Process

Treatment varies depending on what is determined to be the cause of the brain fog.  A quick adjustment to your diet may be all that is required if your diet is found to be the reason of your brain fog symptoms.  Medicine may be prescribed if a blood test confirms that you are suffering from an inflammatory disease which, in turn is causing you to experience symptoms..

In  extreme circumstances, if an imaging test reveals a more serious threat to your health that is bringing about the symptoms of brain fog, it may  need to be addressed in a more in-depth route of treatment and testing.
