Kelly Engelmann, FNP-BC, founded Enhanced Wellness Living in the Jackson/Ridgeland area of Mississippi in 2004.  Kelly has dedicated years to researching and developing treatment strategies using a food first approach for healing her patients. Through years of experience in clinical, hospital, surgical, and obstetrics/OBGYN healthcare, and her keen observations, Kelly became aware that, even with the best doctors, the patient population she was serving was developing and living in a chronic disease state.  She understood that the tools and resources patients needed to gain control of their health and live a life of vitality were limited.

Kelly was convinced she could be doing more for her patients and her passion for using food and nutrition as a tool for healing blossomed.  Kelly began with what she knew best, hormone balancing, and our practice has grown to support hundreds of patients through taking control of their health and overcoming conditions such as, hormone imbalances, dietary challenges, nutritional health, body composition, thyroid diseases, cardiovascular diseases, erectile dysfunction, sexual dysfunction, incontinence, CIRS, autoimmune disease, hair loss, mental health, skin health, gut health, natural aging, and more!  Kelly and the team will work with you to understand the underlying root cause of symptoms and empower you to heal your body and cultivate a life-long plan of energy and vitality!

At Enhanced Wellness Living, Kelly and her team partner with each of their patients to develop individual wellness plans, which ensures you are educated in creating a sustainable lifestyle of wellness.  Kelly understands that your beliefs and values should align with your wellness goals.  She developed a well-thought-out curriculum for her patients that serves as a part of the learning and empowerment of their journey.  Kelly believes that a lifestyle of health and wellness has a ripple effect and knows that the tools she imparts on her patients impact not only the patient but their families and friends as well.  Kelly and the Enhanced Wellness Living team is proud to have the support of Collaborating Physician Dr. Derrick Edwards.

Enhanced Wellness Living provides the latest and most comprehensive clinical education in Functional Medicine to serve our local community!  Specializing in body composition, women’s health, detoxification, hormone balancing, autoimmune diseases, inflammation, fatigue, gut health, thyroid health, sexual health, men’s health, hair loss restoration, nutritional education, supplements and vitamins, and more!

Introduction to the EWL Family

Kelly Engelmann

Family Nurse Practitioner, Lead Functional Medicine Nurse Practitioner

FNP-BC, MSN, MSMS, FAAFM, ABAAHP

Founder of Enhanced Wellness Living and Co-Founder of Synergee

Kelly Engelmann found her passion for healing others early on in life, beginning her career in medicine working in an OB-GYN clinic while still attending high school.  With limited funds for college, Kelly’s mentor encouraged her to pursue an Operating Room Technician Certification.  Kelly successfully completed her Certification and worked in the operating room and labor and delivery while continuing her education.

Kelly earned an Associate of Arts Degree from Hinds Community College, followed by her Baccalaureate Degree from the University of Mississippi.  While studying at the University of Mississippi she was selected to serve in the Valor Program at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center.  There, Kelly received mentorship from professional nurses, which inspired her to continue her education and nursing path. Kelly soon graduated top of her class, receiving the Christine Olavee Award.

After graduation, Kelly joined the team at the Mississippi State hospital; an experience which she reflects on as humbling.  Here, Kelly cared for chronically ill patients that often had little to no financial resources or family support.  During this time, she earned her Master’s in Nursing and her Family Nurse Practitioner training at the University of Southern Mississippi.  Kelly was blessed to find her dream position in an OB-GYN clinic on the Mississippi Gulf Coast with yet another inspiring mentor.  Here she learned the value of always listening to your patients.  Kelly completed her RN-FA Certification and was able to support the physician in both the operating room and clinic.

In 2004 Kelly founded Enhanced Wellness Living Functional Medicine Clinic in Mississippi using her passion and education for food as medicine and healing.  Kelly knew that understanding the underlying cause of symptoms and disease and treating them with the use of nutritional education would empower her patients to live long, healthy lives.  She started with what she knew best, hormone balancing, and since then the clinic has flourished through the proactive approach to Functional/Integrative/Lifestyle Medicine.  Kelly and the Enhanced Wellness Living team thrive on educating and empowering their patients to take control of their health through healthy lifestyle changes which lead to the prevention of chronic illness.

Kelly received her Master’s Degree in Metabolic and Nutritional Medicine from the University of South Florida’s Medical School.  She completed the Fellowship in Anti-Aging Medicine with the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine.  Kelly is Bredesen ReCODE Protocol Certified for Alzheimer’s Disease and Dementia through The Institute for Functional Medicine.  Kelly is also committed to both the Mississippi Nurses Association and the American Nurses Association.  In 2019 Kelly co-founded Synergee, a network of Integrative Medicine practitioners, with a passion and commitment to expanding education on and access to Functional Medicine.

Kelly is passionate about supporting her Mississippi community and is an active member of the Pinelake Church community.  Kelly and the EWL team thrive on giving back, including participating in World Food Day, the annual Hearts of Compassion Fun Run, the Samaritan’s Purse Operation Christmas Child, the annual Run Up for Downs, and more!

Kelly is a student for life and a student of life, she finds joy in impacting the lives of all of those around her!  A former marathon runner, Kelly enjoys nature and getting outdoors, bicycling, yoga, traveling, and spending time with, and cooking for her family.
